According to Jim Dethmer with The Conscious Leadership Group, people with a high level of integrity honor 90% of their agreements. He says that being impeccable around the agreements you’ve made (doing what you said you would do), is one of the easiest ways to build trust in business. What does an impeccable agreement look like?

It’s clear what time the meeting is, who is calling who, who is responsible for what, who is going to do what by when, etc.. He says that without these things, we waste people’s time and tarnish our own reputation.

One unique suggestion he makes is to keep a journal of the agreements you’ve made. What have you promised to others and what are the terms of the promise? If you can honor the agreement, great. If not, you should renegotiate the terms of the agreement before the deadline. And if you don’t deliver on your end of an agreement, clean it up. Admit your miss and ask what you can do to make it right.
